What's actually at stake
When someone searches for your business — or any business like yours — your Google Business Profile is often the first thing they see. Before your website. Before your Instagram. Before anything else.
If it looks abandoned or incomplete, many people just move on to the next result. That's a customer you lost before they even reached you.
The mistakes we see all the time
These aren't rare edge cases. We see them on almost every business profile we look at:
- Unclaimed profile — your business shows on Maps, but you've never taken ownership of it. Anyone can suggest edits
- Wrong or outdated hours — you changed your timings months ago but never updated it online. Customer shows up, finds you closed, never returns
- No photos — a profile with zero photos looks like an abandoned listing. Add at least 8–10: your shopfront, team, work, products
- Ignoring reviews — a two-star review sitting there unanswered for six months tells every visitor you don't care
- Generic business description — 'We provide best quality services' tells nobody anything. Be specific about what you do and where you serve
The fix is not complicated
Spend 30 minutes this week. Search your business on Google Maps, claim your profile if you haven't, and go through every single field. Update your hours. Upload photos. Write a proper description.
Then reply to every review — good or bad. It takes two minutes and signals to both customers and Google that your business is active and responsive.
Most of your competitors in Assam won't do this. That's why this is worth doing.
